WHAT IS SELF-DIRECTION?

Self-direction is a unique way to access Medicaid waiver programs that provides the means and tools for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to define their own lives, work toward their personal goals and achieve greater integration into their local community.

WHAT IS A DSP?

DSP stands for Direct Support Professional. As a DSP you will be working one on one within for a self-directed individual. Your job tasks will be tailored to that individual’s valued outcomes as defined in their habilitation plan (essentially a list of goals). Common tasks include, but are not limited to, supporting an individual in the community to recognize social cues, accessing desirable activities and/or develop various life skills.

AM I QUALIFIED?

We are always looking for dependable people with great attitudes looking to go the extra mile to support individuals to accomplish goals and realize their dreams, but there are some stipulations.
-You must be over 18yrs old
-It is preferred and more practical to have a valid drivers license and own a car (insured and inspected)
**You will be fingerprinted and have a full background check before hiring**

WHATS THE PAY RATE?

-Many plans start at or about $18 per hour and move up according to the circumstances particular to that plan
-Pay rate is dependent on various factors including level of education, experience, years working, individuals needs and budget.
